If you liked the built-in history of Geralt, I urge you to also play an “origin” character when you get around to Divinity: Original Sin 2. They have similarly extensive backgrounds tied closely to the game world, and that history comes to the foreground VERY frequently. Very well done.
I played the intro on my PS5 and did just that. I just sorta assumed playing a character with quirks and connections would just be more entertaining. I just bought it on sale for my Steamdeck, so when I replay the intro, I will do it again for my “for real” play. And I think Josh and I will do some co-op!
